Joseph Falkenstein
Mr. Falkenstein has 20 years of experience in private equity, venture capital, finance and
accounting. This includes six years of direct investing experience as co-founder of NJTC
Venture Fund, an $80 million technology-focused venture fund, where he worked with Mr.
Chefitz. At NJTC Venture Fund Mr. Falkenstein led investments in communications infrastructure,
including Dynamicsoft, Inc. which was successfully sold to Cisco at a 60% IRR and technology-enabled
services such as Archive Systems Inc., a secure document management platform. Sword Diagnostics
is a state of the art imaging system for detecting pathogens in food processing plants and potentially
other industrial environments. Sword is an example of technology licensed from Naver Research Labs
for commercialization.
Prior to NJTC Venture Fund, Mr. Falkenstein was a partner in Arthur Andersen’s Technology and
Private Equity practice, where he focused on industry consolidations, venture-backed growth
companies and due diligence support services. During his tenure at Andersen, Mr. Falkenstein
directly advised clients in over $150 million of private equity transactions, public equity
offerings in excess of $500 million and merger and acquisition transactions in excess of $1
billion. Mr. Falkenstein has extensive experience leading diligence and structuring transactions.
Mr. Falkenstein also led several operational improvement consulting engagements, including the
global manufacturing and distribution rationalization for Checkpoint Systems, Inc., a leader in
the retail security industry. Mr. Falkenstein has focused on growth companies, corporate finance
and capital formation his entire career and is a frequent speaker on such topics.
Mr. Falkenstein is a CPA in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Mr. Chefitz and Mr. Falkenstein have
worked together for the last six years.
